In March 2023, Mia was awarded the first Nancy Swanson Service Award from the Illinois Association for Music Therapy for her focused services to the profession. She has also previously served to the regional conference planning committees and it is a Recurrent presenter at conferences and at encompassing Midwest universities on topics such as music
